Oppo is preparing to unveil its latest flagship Find X8 and Find X8 Pro soon in India, possibly immediately after it launches them globally in the coming weeks. The Find X8 series has already been launched in China. It is a flagship series and the two phones come equipped with MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 chipset and a quad-camera setup fine-tuned by Hasselblad.
With the China launch complete, the big question is: when will Oppo bring its flagship phones to global markets? While the brand hasn’t confirmed any dates yet, we expect the arrival of the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro in the coming weeks — perhaps even sooner.
Although dates are still a secret, Oppo has confirmed that, similar to the China variants, the global versions of the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro will be premium, camera-focused phones with quad camera setup fine tuned with Hasselblad. Of note are likely to be: Hasselblad Portrait Mode and Master Mode.
Oppo has also confirmed that the Find X8 phones are coming with several advanced camera features, including GenAI-powered capabilities like AI-backed Telescope Zoom, an advanced HyperTone Image Engine, and Dolby Vision video recording capabilities.
Because camera performance is the focus area for Find X series phones, let’s first look at what all the two X8 phones are bringing to the table. There seem to be improvements all-around. The Find X8 Pro has four rear cameras, including a 6X camera that uses an innovative Triple Prism Folded Lens to save space and weight and still enable long optical zoom. All four cameras use 50-megapixel sensors. Two of the cameras have periscope lenses — 6X and 3X. Three of the cameras — excluding the ultra-wide camera — have optical image stabilisation.
The rear camera setup on the Find X8 is similar, but has three cameras. It lacks the 6X telephoto camera which the Pro phone has.
Oppo says that along with hardware, the camera software has also been improved. The company says that the Find X8 camera system is going to use AI-powered Telescope Zoom, a software feature that should let users click sharper zoomed-in photos. Oppo notes that the Find X8 series will be capable of offering zoom from 10x to 120x, allowing users to capture distant subjects without sacrificing image quality.
For video, the Find X8 series supports Dolby Vision recording. In addition Oppo is also introducing a Quick Button — similar to the iPhone’s Camera Control — that will allow users to activate the camera with a single tap.
What else can we expect? While Oppo has kept many details under wraps, we anticipate the global version to have specifications similar to the China variants. The Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro have been launched in China with LTPO OLED displays, featuring adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. The Find X8 includes a 6.59-inch screen, while the Pro version offers a larger 6.78-inch display with micro-quad curvature. With peak brightness reaching upto 4,500 nits in HDR mode in both displays.
Under the hood, the Find X8 series is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset. The chipset is making a lot of buzz and if early benchmarks are to be believed it may end up being the fastest chipset in Android phones this year, even ahead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. Inside the Find X8, Oppo has also included an advanced cooling system, featuring a graphite layer, vapour chamber, and thermally conductive gel that might help gamers as they play games in long sessions.
Both Find X8 phones also run ColorOS 15, offering upgraded user interface with AI enhancements. The battery capacity, meanwhile, is impressive: the Find X8 houses a 5630mAh battery, and the Pro version holds a 5910mAh cell. Both devices support fast 80W wired and 50W wireless charging and have an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
As for pricing, in China Oppo has launched the new flagship in new colours including Starfield Black, Floating Light White, Chasing Wind Blue, and Bubble Pink, with a starting price of CNY 4,199 (approximately Rs 49,551). The higher variant – Find X8 Pro has been launched in Hoshino Black, Cloud White, and Sky Blue, and it starts at CNY 5,299 (about Rs 62,536).
Now as for India we are expecting the Find X8 to be priced around Rs 50,000, with the Find X8 Pro likely to be priced closer to Rs 65,000.
